I got tired of reading the same old registry cleaner reviews that ranked programs 4 out of 5 stars, or a 9.2 out of 10. So I decided to put together a quality review site that compared not only registry cleaner features, but also their performance.
Here you will find detailed registry cleaner reviews of each program I test and also a registry cleaner comparison that explains which program was the best in each of my tests. You can also still catch my detailed Regcure review, Registry Easy reviews and Registry Mechanic reviews by following the links in the right hand side bar.
In order to choose the top registry cleaner I needed to purchase and run each of these programs on my own test computer.
I used a test PC with 1 GB of ram, a PIII processor and windows XP. The computer was used for everyday Internet and email use, downloading, and other regular home tasks (i.e. Online banking, research, videos etc.).
By creating an image of the system settings I was able to undo changes made by each registry cleaner after I tested it so each program was working with the same problems, programs and settings.
#1 Registry Easy
Registry Easy finished in first place in 3 of my 5 tests and comparisons. In the other 2 tests it was the runner up. It clearly was the best registry cleaner of those tested.
This full featured program offered more additional features then any other registry cleaner I reviewed, and improved the boot time of my test PC by 17%.
#2 Registry Mechanic
Registry Mechanic by PCTools offered the next best set of tools, results and performance improvement. It produced the fastest scan time and was a very easy program to navigate.
Compared to Registry Easy unfortunately it didn’t offer as of extra features and didn’t produce the same kind of improvement in my test PC.

#3 RegCure
The result of Regcure after my registry cleaner review was surprising. Most websites reviewing registry cleaners rank Regcure by ParentolLogic as their top choice.
My test results showed that while Regcure found the highest number of problems and errors, it didn’t result in a huge performance improvement. It was able to remove basic errors in the registry, and it’s start-up management feature worked well.
Since my test PC didn’t have a large number of errors or pop ups happening at the time of my tests I’m not sure how Regcure would perform on a computer with a lot more problems. You can read my full Regcure review here.
